If you desire a perfectly manicured lawn all year round without having to spend your weekends maintaining it, then artificial grass installation is the ideal solution for you.
Although the initial cost of synthetic turf installation is higher, it doesn't incur the ongoing costs of watering, fertilizing, or mowing, associated with natural lawns.
With an extensive range of synthetic turfs available in various pile heights and yarn densities, we can supply and install a quality made artificial lawn that perfectly suits your needs.

At Designer Paving and Landscaping, we offer top-quality synthetic turfs at competitive prices, ideal for your artificial grass installation needs.
Our artificial grass is crafted using advanced multi yarn technologies, featuring straight dark green and light green yarn alongside curly dark brown and light brown yarn (thatch) This process produces a thicker turf with a more realistic appearance.
When choosing a synthetic turf it's important to take the following attributes into consideration :
Pile height
Short 10-30mm: horter the pile the less realistic the turf will look, Best suited for putting greens and commercial areas with heavy traffic use.
Medium 30-40mm: Ideal for residential backyards with moderate to heavy traffic use
Long 40-50mm: Provides the most realistic looking turf but will flatten more for areas with light traffic.
Stitch rate
The stitch rate denotes the number of yarn stitches used per square meter of synthetic turf. A higher stitch rate yields a denser, more realistic looking lawn. Most residential synthetic turfs range between 12,000 to 18,000 stitches.
DTEX
DTEX (Decitex) Is a reliable indicator of the turf's durability, it measures the linear mass of yarn in decigrams per 10,000 meters. A higher DTEX number signifies thicker fiber mass, with most residential synthetic turfs falling between 10,000 and 12,000 DTEX

Correct excavation depth is crucial for a high-quality artificial grass installation. We determine our base depth based on a 10mm pile height above pathways. To establish a minimum 50mm base, it is necessary to excavate 80mm below pathway height when using 40mm synthetic turf.
For optimal base preparation in our synthetic turf installation process, we prefer Dolomite sand as it is permeable, compacts well, and is free of stones that could interfere with pinning.
Screed bars and straps are employed to create a perfectly leveled area before thorough compaction takes place.
All our artificial grass installations are meticulously cut and joined, secured firmly in place using deep heavy-duty galvanized U pins.
Next, we add fine sand infill to the artificial lawn, approximately 5kg to 10kg per m2. This sand enhances weight, stability, volume, and protection and is essential for the grooming process of our instant lawn varieties.
Finally, we groom the artificial lawn using either a standard or power broom, which helps brush the yarn upright while the infill sand locks it in, ensuring a flawless finish for our instant lawn varieties.

For some people, there's nothing like the smell of freshly cut grass and the sound of a sprinkler running in the background.
Although natural lawns do require more time and maintenance, they have distinct advantages, they're cooler, self-repairing, pet-friendly, and look great when properly cared for.
Unlike the thirsty and invasive lawns of yesteryear, today’s new lawn varieties are bred to be drought-tolerant, featuring less invasive stolons (runners) and rhizoids.
When considering different instant lawn varieties for your yard, it's essential to evaluate several key factors: the amount of sun or shade your lawn will receive, how much traffic the lawn will endure, and the wear and tear from pets and kids.

Couch Grass
Bermuda and Santa Ana are the two most commonly installed couch grasses.
Couch is a fine-leaved grass which thrives in full sun and warmer weather. It is drought tolerant and self-repairs during summer, providing moderate growth speed. However, couch grass dislikes the colder months, leading to dormant growth and a loss of color, and it is not the most durable option for large pets or high-traffic areas.
Buffalo Grass
In Adelaide, Sir Walter and Sapphire stand out as the top varieties of Buffalo grass installations. This large-leaved grass maintains a dark green color throughout the year and is the most shade tolerant of the three varieties. However, it is the least drought tolerant and while more durable than couch, it’s not as durable as Kikuyu. Buffalo grass is also the slowest growing and repairing grass, which can affect its appeal in instant lawn varieties.
Kikuyu Grass
Eureka and Village Green are both male sterile dwarf varieties of Kikuyu grass. Featuring medium-sized leaves with a lighter shade of green than Buffalo, Kikuyu is the fastest growing and self-repairing grass available. It is the most durable option, making it suitable for heavy pet and traffic areas. While Kikuyu prefers mostly sun, it is not as shade tolerant as Buffalo grass, yet it remains the most installed instant lawn variety in South Australia.

At Designer Paving and Landscaping, we carry out all artificial grass installations and instant lawn installations professionally, using the best quality turfs and materials to ensure the lawn's health and appearance meets the highest standards.
Every step of the process is meticulously managed using the best construction practices, starting with the correct excavation. It's important that the excavation is deep enough to allow for a minimum 100mm topsoil base under the instant turf. If the turf is to be laid level with a pathway, this requires excavation to a depth of 140mm.
If the subgrade consists of compacted clay, gypsum can be added to the top and rotary hoed to a depth of 100mm.
Next, a 100mm deep layer of topsoil is added, compacted moderately, and precisely leveled out with levels and screed bars. Just prior to installation, we apply lawn starter fertilizer and soak the soil thoroughly, allowing for deep watering while removing any trapped air pockets.
Instant turf varieties are then laid tightly to prevent any edges from drying out. Topsoil can also be added to any awkward gaps to keep them moist.
The newly laid lawn is then given a heavy hand watering followed by running a 40-45kg roller over the top. The roller levels out any inconsistencies in height, removes air pockets, and helps bond the instant lawn to the soil base.
